![]() The Boondocks Back For Second Season By: Chante' Wallace The second season of the Peabody Award-winning series, The Boondocks, is scheduled to make yet another debut October 8. It will be aired on Adult Swim, the late-night sister network that showcases animation that is suited for adults only. Fifteen new episodes are set and ready to air through January 2008. The new season will show Huey, Riley, and Granddad encountering new and familiar characters in various situations. Throughout the season, hip-hop artists, actors, comedians, and media personalities will voice guest characters on the series, including Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Ghostface Killah, Cee-lo, Lil’ Wayne, Donald Faison (Scrubs), Aisha Tyler (Balls of Fury), Kym Whitley (Reno 911), Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris), Mo’Nique (The Parkers), Marion Ross (Happy Days), Tavis Smiley, Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris), Bill Duke (X-Men: The Last Stand), and Cedric the Entertainer. Huey and Riley Freeman are two rambunctious grandkids from south Chicago who have been moved to the “Boondocks” to live with their grandfather. The brothers are voiced by Regina King (24, Ray). John Witherspoon (Friday) voices Robert Jebediah Freeman, the cantankerous grandfather who tries to enjoy his golden years in peace, but often is distracted by his grandsons. The series was recognized this past year with the Peabody award for the episode McGruder wrote entitled “Return of the King,” in which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. abruptly awakens from a coma only to be shocked at the contemporary phenomena from rap to the war on terror In 2005 The Boondocks was nominated for a NAACP Image Award in the category of “Outstanding Comedy Series.” Aaron McGruder is the creator and executive producer of the series. It is produced by Rebel Base in association with Sony Pictures Television. The Boondocks will air Monday, October 8 at 11:30 p.m. on Adult Swim.
