50 Cent, Eminem, Oprah Subpoenaed

  In a lawsuit filed on August 21, Murder Cap Records CEO Jerome Almon argues that Canadian officials engage in racial profiling when choosing how long to detain African-American entertainers, especially rappers at the Canadian border. 

Almon says that the increased length of detainment is due to the perception that rappers have caused an increase in gun violence and gang activity in Toronto and Vancouver.  

Almon told TMZ.com, “The white celebrities have been directed to appear, in order to show the hypocritical nature of Canadian policy toward rappers."

"Some of the white celebrities have far worse (criminal) records than these rappers, but are still allowed to enter Canada with the red carpet rolled out."

Despite spending a record $785M to put new officers on the streets, Toronto has seen dramatic increases in gun violence, which many link to increased gang activity. This increase includes an especially bloody weekend recently, during which 3 people were gunned down, including an 11-year old boy.
