Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons admitted Friday that he was involved in an illegal dog fighting operation.   Immediately after the admission to Federal Investigators, the star was suspended without pay by the NFL.
 
Shortly after the suspension, Nike Corporation nullified Vick’s contract.  Vick was set to release a new shoe this year, but the shoe release has been suspended.  This is the first time, however, that Nike has stated that it would drop Vick’s contract completely.
 
In an open letter to Michael Vick, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said "Your admitted conduct was not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible.  Your team, the NFL, and NFL fans have all been hurt by your actions."

Vick admitted he took part in an illegal, interstate dogfighting enterprise known as "Bad Newz Kennels" from 2001 through April 2007.

In documents filed in U.S. District Court in Richmond, Vick admitted having knowledge that underperforming dogs were killed from 2002 to 2007.
