 5 Reasons Why Michael Vick is NOT The Only Bad Guy in America Dr. Boyce Watkins I noticed that a lot of America's hunters are quick to condemn Michael Vick, but turn the mirror away from their own faces when questioned about their own desire to shoot innocent animals, and then gut them, stuff them or do only God knows what. So, I am going to give you 5 quick reasons that Michael Vick is not the only Monster in America. If you want to call him barbaric, then just watch how your husband shoots Bambi in the head and stuffs her on the mantle. 1) If I were given a choice between being put in the ring to fight to the death or being shot and stuffed, I wouldn't exactly consider either option to be all that humane. 2) You ever notice that America's reaction to the killing of several dogs (which is terrible by the way) leads to more protests than the murder of tens of thousands of people in Darfur? Translation: black people are not as important as dogs. 3) I notice that there are other killers on the loose in the White House. Guess what? After you're done protesting Michael Vick, you can save thousands of actual PEOPLE by working equally hard to hold Bush, Cheney, Rove and Condi accountable for their lies and deaths in Iraq. 4) Most of the outrage comes from the fact that these were DOGS. Had Vick hurt rats, pigeons or even people, there would be far less anger. I honestly believe that all life is precious, even those that are not cute and furry. 5) If your only explanation for why dog fighting is worse than hunting is to say that one is legal and the other is not, then you've got very weak legs to stand on. Legality does not always imply morality, for we have a country that once thought it was legal to own slaves. Also, the notion that hunters kill to eat is silly, since you can find food much easier at the local grocery store. That's where I do my hunting. In fact, if Vick had eaten the dogs he was alleged to have slaughtered, that wouldn't make things any better. The Bible says "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
