I recently went out to dinner with some of my
old friends from college. My date, my date's fraternity brother, and
the guy's wife were at the table with me. We started talking about
home ownership, money and jobs. The conversation then drifted to the
role of a woman in a relationship and her financial contributions to
the relationships. The married guy said that his wife would never

Former Rep. Geraldine Ferraro claimed that she was attacked for being white
after making controversial comments about Senator Barack Obama. "Any time
anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says, 'Let's
address reality and the problems we're facing in this world,' you're accused of
being racist, so you have to shut up," she told the Daily Breeze of Torrance,
California. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're

Dr. Boyce Watkins: Will Obama's Success Unite Us or Divide Us?
- Barack Obama’s emergence as a powerful Presidential candidate is
truly worth celebrating. Beginning as a modest participant in the
election, his creative political genius gave African-Americans the
courage to support a black man. Hillary Clinton’s role as the
“political sugar substitute” came to an abrupt end once Obama came
with the real cane. Obama created his base of believers by going to
the whitest parts of white America and showing that he could build a
bridge long enough to gain universal trust and support.

minds of the 20th century by reading in-depth biographies, I realize
that popular culture often has the unfortunate effect of shaping the
ideas and thoughts that we have about our country’s most important
heroes. From a financial company that carelessly uses the image of
penny-pinching Ben Franklin, to a brewery that peddles images of
American patriot Samuel Adams to gain more loyal customers, it seems
as if such desecration is becoming more common. As a result, we

Show for ABC: It is being reported that Tyra Banks, the
supermodel host of "The Tyra Show", is set to get another show
through ABC. The rumor is that she and Ashton Kutcher will produce a
reality show focusing on beauty pageants. Currently, Tyra is
rated number 3 on the Black Enterprise List of "Top Money Makers in
Hollywood". Much of this comes through her show "America's Next Top
Model", which is in its tenth season. Her show, "The Tyra Banks
Show" allegedly has 4.3 million female viewers per week, according

Your Black News: Stanford Researcher Says that Whites
Subconsciously Associate Blacks with Apes - Crude
historical depictions of African Americans as ape-like may have
disappeared from mainstream U.S. culture, but research presented in
a new paper by psychologists at Stanford, Pennsylvania State
University and the University of California-Berkeley reveals that
many Americans subconsciously associate blacks with apes. In
addition, the findings show that society is more likely to condone
violence against black criminal suspects as a result of its broader
inability to accept African Americans as fully human, according to

Author Works to Help African-Americans Regain Control of the
Haircare Industry - Devin Robinson is "Taking it back
Black", with a cooperative economics movement in the hair care
industry. Spearheading the "100 stores in 100 days" movement under
the Black Beauty Supply Association, he illustrates the very nature
of Dubois' plea for black wealth sustained and cultivated not on the
backs of blacks but to the benefit them. To create the fight for

Farrakhan Doesn't Mind Anyway - During the recent
Democratic debate, I saw Barack Obama getting pushed into the "black
corner". This is the same corner that Hillary and Bill Clinton
pushed him into during the campaign in South Carolina. The same
corner that caused some Americans to (temporarily) limit him to
being "just another black candidate", instead of a potential
visionary who can guide our country out of one of it's darkest

Your Black Politics: Clinton "getting desperate", says
Obama - Hillary Clinton recently stated that Senator Barack
Obama is incapable of handling an early-morning foreign policy
crisis. While campaigning in Ohio, Obama stated that his rival is
getting "a little desperate". "I think she has got a little
desperate toward the end of this campaign," Obama told ABC News.
"[She] has been a lot more aggressive in her negative attacks."

Your Black Hip Hop: Daughter of Rapper Juvenile
Murdered by Her Brother - Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., a
17-year-old, has been charged with the murder of his mother and two
sisters. One of the girls was the daughter of the rapper Juvenile.
The victims were identified as Joy Deleston, 39, and her two
daughters, Micaiah, 11, and Jelani, 4. Ms. Deleston was a Gwinnett
County Sheriff's Deputy. Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray,

Issues of Father Custody Problems in America - Three children,
ages 6, 5 and 1, were found either drowned or poisoned, with one having
her throat cut on Monday. Leatrice Brewer called the 911 operator and
said coldly "I killed my babies."The three children, a girl 6 and two

Jay-Z named in Reparations Lawsuit: The New York Observer
is reporting that a Brooklyn activist has filed a $5 Billion dollar
reparations lawsuit against Bruce Ratner, Barclays and Jay-Z. The suit
claims that there should be a lien on their property and that the funds
