Dr. Boyce on Syracuse University:
I think that universities like
Syracuse need to ask themselves: 'What does it say about our
campus when we have departments that have gone over 100 years
without tenuring a single African-American? What does it
say about us that we are not diligently trying to reverse this
trend? Could the system be biased in favor of the white
males responsible for establishing the foundation of our
campus?'

Dr. Watkins is deeply committed to fighting for the rights of
black academics, openly questioning why most major university
departments have NEVER tenured an African-American. He has
also worked closely with the Rev. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson
to get Don Imus off the air. Finally, Watkins has taken on
the NCAA on CNN, ESPN, the LA Times, and CBS sports for their
unfair treatment of college athletes. In Dr. Watkins'
words "It makes no sense that the coach's wife goes to games on
a private jet, but the star player's mother is arriving on a
greyhound bus." |

What do I think about the world right now?
I think that the world is AFRAID TO TALK ABOUT RACE! For
some reason, just saying the words "Black man" makes people get
nervous, as if I were referring to Osama Bin Laden. I only
hope that the day will come when our country realizes that not
talking about race is only going to prolong the scars of our
racist past. I am not a finance professor who happens to
be black....I am a black man who happens to be a finance
professor. I am proud of this fact. I associate with
other black men: those with MDs, in prison, in sports, in
media, rappers, the homeless and those who are tall, short, fat
and thin. I will never outgrow who I am, and I will never
try to be someone that I am not.

Dr. Boyce's thoughts on Sean
Hannity: "I respect a
man as bold as him, and I don't consider him to be all that
stupid. However, he is about as unAmerican as you can get
because he ultimately hurts his country, I told him that.
I can't wait for this McCarthyist, Post-9/11 era to end, so that
fads like him will disappear into the sunset."

Dr. Boyce on Wendy Williams:
"Wendy can be rough on people, but she has always been
incredibly respectful to me. Each of the 6 times I
appeared on her show this year and when we were on CNN together,
she always treated me with the ultimate respect. That is
why I chose her show to be the place where I proposed to my
fiance. That was one of the most significant moments of my
life."
