Abandoned Infant Freezes to Death in D.C. {Video}

An infant girl found wrapped in a towel on the front steps of a Northeast residence late Sunday night later died, and police are investigating the case as a homicide.

A resident of the 3000 block of Channing Street, NE, was walking home when he saw the unidentified infant on the steps of another home in the same block, police said Tuesday morning. After finding the baby cold and unconscious, he brought the baby into his home and called 911.

Police and Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene shortly after 11:30 p.m. and found a neighbor performing CPR on the infant. The baby was then taken to Children’s National Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 2:21 a.m. on Monday.

Wow. How could someone do this to a child. All they had to do is take the child to the fire department, no question asked. This just breaks my heart.

This is call child abuse/murder. Leaving a infant in the bitter cold weather wrap in next to nothing, is like murdering the child. I guess the stupid, sick, low life mother did not have enough Respect to just leave the baby at the hospital after it was born. You go nine months then kill your child…I have no sympathy for this child parents at all…RIP Baby Girl!

I’m guessing whoever did it, took it to an upscale house and left it hoping for a better life.
Not being smart enough to realize that only works in movies. The child was wrapped in a blanket so, with abuse marks on it. It looks to me as if a 14-16 year old realised they couldn’t take care of it and they left it to someone that could. Those ppl just happened not to come outside. Very sad. Lets not all jump and scream murder. When you kill someone baby or otherwise you don’t leave the body on someones steps. Had they wanted the child dead they would have left it in a dumpster or the river, or in the woods. Whoever did this is an idiot not a murderer.
