Black Woman to Lead NASA Project to go Beyond the Solar System

Mae Jemison, the first black woman in space back in 1992, has been selected to lead a project to determine how human beings might be able to survive outside the solar system. Jemison is going to be the commander of the “100 Year Starship Project,” which will actually investigate the possibilities and implications of having a multi-generational mission outside the solar system.

Jemison, who is now 55-years old, set up the 100 Year Starship Symposium last year. She did such a wonderful job that she was given another $500,000 contract to continue her research. The award was granted by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Their objective is to determine what would be needed for an interstellar space mission.

Jemison’s group, the Dorothy Jemison Foundation for Excellence, is based in Houston. They’ve joined forces with Icarus Interstellar the Foundation for Enterprise Development.

Good for her. Through her research Anglos will be that much closer to owning space and other planets just the way they own earth! They are genius at using people to serve their own advances and then turning their backs on the people they use. History allows us to observe the repetitive nature of our pale faced kinsmen.

We are all one people of the human race, but they have managed to split us all up and name us the way they want to name us. They even invent card games and strange words like “race card”..They’ve even invented decks of ‘kill cards’ for other people they don’t like!

What other non-sense will their further waste of our taxes and resources allow them to come up with? Good for Ms. Mae Jemison though, she is another of the few “blacks” who have reached the epitome of success in this white man’s world! May her name always be remembered like say Mr. Paul Robeson?

Doesn’t make any difference to me whether or not Wondrous is Black or not. There is some truth to what he stated. If you don’t like it, you have the right to say so, and you did. Your rant does nothing to change the truth in his statement. I think Dr. Jemison is a brilliant scientist, and her work will take us to the stars. I also believe, just like in the movie “Avatar,” avaricious humans will find something of value there, and try to exploit it, perhaps at the expense of the indigineous population…PEACE.

You are painfully correct, these avaricious humans will find something of value and not just try, they will exploit it. I understand everyone’s frustration with the sarcasms, etc; But they always have exploited it even at the expense of the indigineous population. Just ask the Indians, African Americans, Mexicans and other minority groups – this is what people of this mindset do best – take advantage of others and they rejoice in it. This adds meaning to the life of people lik this, it gives them something to do.

Can you name one period or era in human history where there was no human exploitation of one human to another?….. Peace.

No one ever said that this kind of exploitation is new. On the contrary, but it still doesn’t necessarily mean that suddenly it is right. It is not. Most often the human exploitation of one another is quite inhumane. The sad part of it is that no, I cannot name a period or era in human history where human exploitation did not ocucur.

@BevoNixon:disqus . You are correct about my IDs. I use both. One for Yahoo the other for Google. I am very “black” or I wouldn’t bother to point out our reality as I see it. I try to add more depth to issues where I think more angles or points to a story may well be overlooked. I try my best not to insult ‘my’ own people. I believe we have been, and are constantly insulted enough. However I do want to point out as many of the negative aspects of our existence and servitude in this conquered country as possible.

Whenever any of us are celebrated by “whites” or each other, I want to make sure that we understand that almost everything we do here in this Anglo-dominant country is mainly to keep them more dominant and powerful. We are still their slaves by default and there appears to be very little we can do about it!
One of the main reasons we are unable to do anything about anything, is that we have been blatantly scattered and divided amongst each other in every conceivable way! We cannot even agree on the nature of our existence here and the blatant abuses many of us suffer at the hands of the very same people we ignorantly assimilate with and copy! Of course there is always more to say about our dilemma, and always much more to learn and point out to each other.

So while we can applaud the accomplishments some of ‘our’ own make, we must always recognize the corresponding adversities and the ways in which our successes are exploited and recognized by the dominant Anglo society. Very few of them know who Paul Robeson is, just as very few of us know him, and what his accomplishments and sacrifices were, but whites will know who Ms.Jemison is and so will we, because of Jemison’s contributions to the continuing betterment of their dominance.

I don’t focus much on other commenters trying to attack my thoughts on certain subjects because I am aware that all of our minds are conditioned, brainwashed, and scatterbrained over many subjects, ideals, issues, etc.
I consider my role as a messenger to all people who are suffering from the antics of the psychopathic dominant ‘elite’, but especially my own “black” people! No matter where their thoughts lead them. Thanks for reading my thoughts and responding the best way you can.

Why haven’t you Wizard Dog, told said Black people that they have nothing in common with Goldman Sachs bankers? Why haven’t you told your targeted audience of Black people that Goldman Sachs bankers were Obama’s largest contributors to his campaign?

You need to tell the people that Barack Obama did not come out of our Movement and that Obama was never part of our larger Movement like MLK, Medgar, Malcolm, Angela, Fannie Lou Hamer, Ella Baker, Bobby Seale, or the great Bobby Rush who beat Obama in one election. Wizard Dog: You must recognize that leadership cannot be predicated upon a faulty premise but instead good, solid, unwavering character and inherent strong personality much like the foundation of a strong building built upon solid bedrock. In order to place a good solid building one must often rent the old foundation to solide bedrock.
Normally I would not quote a Anglo but I might add this quote from Robert Frost: ” Half of the world has something to say and can’t say it; the other half has nothing to say and keeps on saying it.”

The roles with greatest potency in world politics are those heads of states and corporations and foreign policymakers who make peace and war and economic decisions that afttect the lives of millions of people. Whether or not potential power is turned into actual power depends upon the combination of perceived situational opportunity, personal decisions making, and self determination. These Wizard Dog are the crucial components of political man. Power is a social relationship bewteen people in which some have more of their needs satisfied than others.

Wizard Dog: Tell the people the truth that the race between the Republicans and the Democrats for the WH is a race between the wolf and the fox for unbridled power! Its has nothing to do with the 99 percent of all Americans.

WizardG calls himself a messenger. Messenger of what? The man perpetually lives in an utopiam world of conspiracy theories. In WizardG’s world nothing is real. Eveything is an illusion or a set up. For WizardG, if a dog craps on your front lawn, Caucasian man along with the CIA are behind it. If some farts in a train, the NSA or some other agency are orchestrating something sinister to poison people…..black people. I used to enjoy reading some of G’s posts because he is a ver prolific writer, and some of his posts call for some reflection. The problem is, this guy may have gone off the deep end, and can no longer tell the difference between reality and fantasy anymore.

The truth is we black people live in America which is a white dominated society in all aspects. The power structure in this country is fimly entrenched in the hands of whites. For years, many of our people have engaged in pointless talk without developing any serious strategy designed to enable us develop our own economic and technological base capable of neutralizing or diminishing the huge advantages that whites have over us. We continue to depend on whites to lead the way and to develop everything we utilize. We rely on white people for manufacturing, for import/export, for medicine, etc . We are basically consumers. Look at black shows on National T.V, how much intelligence is gained from watching them. How do they portray us? They don’t portray us in any serious and positive light. Granted that the producers and the networks that host those shows are white owned, but the clowns that star in them are blacks.

Many of us like WizardG would rile and complain, but the truth is many like him will crawl back to the white folks he despises for jobs, benefits, healthcare, transportation, finance, and even entertainment. This is why it amazes me that even after it has dawned on us that the white supremacist powerbrokers are no friends of black people, we still look to them to give us equality, to formulate policies that are favorable to us economically, to build infrastructure in our communities, to educate our children, and in many cases to defend us against their own oppressive system.

Trying to level the playing field through policitical activism will not work, and has not worked since white made some concession during civil rights. That’s as much as they’ll give. We remain frustrated because we can’t move beyond this diplorable state of affairs are in. Rather than waste one’s time focusing on the white man’s character, it would make good sense to go underground and in secret begin to devise strategies to build ourselves into a formidable force within a specified period of time. We need to have short and long term plans for developing our Agricultural base, our healthcare system, our banking system, our manufacturing base, our legal system, our intelligence network, our pharmaceutical base, our industrial base, our transportation base (Air, land, Sea), and most of all, our Family, and Education base. This is the only way out. We can have the balls and courage to do the hard work that this kind of initiative demands, or we can sit back and day dream about all kinds of conspiracies and remain stuck in that same mindset.

I agree with your detailed critique of the impostor Wizard Dog or Wondorus Dragon.
He couldn’t answer my questions because he has no answers.
Both Romney and Obama drink/eat from the same Goldman Sachs bankers trough and who both come out the elite Educational-Industrial-Complex of Harvard. Those crooked corrupt bankers on Wall Street don’t care whether Romney’s a Mormon or not as long as their interests are SERVED and said politicians are beholden to their interests.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would love the symbolism of having a Black President in the WH and a Black family in the WH and that’s where it would end. But symbolism won’t pay the bills or get you a decent edcuation or JOB.
The Dr. King that I know would be INVLOVED in the following:
1. The massive Black on Black crime that still plagues our Communities
2. The Poor Graduation rates of our school age kids
3. The new Voter Suppression Laws4. Immigration Reform
5. Lack Of Jobs+ Massive unemployment
6. I have to stop now; ETC.
7. His plate would be filled today more than it was in 1960′s.

I feel a sense of racial pride in knowing that for such an important project this black woman was awarded this opportunity.Often qualified people of color are passed over for these high profile jobs and are given a myriad of excuses as to why they weren’t selected. My hat off to NASA! NASA chose Dr. Mae Jameson because she is indeed the best and the brightest. .

I met Dr Jemison on a flight in August of last year… I had the privilege of personally telling her how grateful I am to her for her contributions to humanity, and what a blessing it was for me to tell my 6 yr old daughter 3 yrs ago when she watched Uniqua, Austin, Pablo and crew from “Backyardigans”‘s Mission to Mars!
She told me she wanted to be an astronaut and go to space…we bought the accompanying book and read it quite often as well as viewed the DVD, as we dont have “TV”. I was soooo pleased to tell her “YES YOU CAN” and point to Dr. Jemison as the example! Yes, unfortunately she’s aware of some of Nicki Minaj’s songs as we do not live in a vacuum, however, she also knows Ms Minaj’s messages are not for her, but Dr. Jemison’s life journey of education and exploration with no limitations are exactly what she can and should emulate!

Can u imagine the vibratory level one must be on to even be able to begin to accomplish/contribute what Dr. Jemison has…to ALL of us? Who is her organization named after? Most likely her mother, although i could be mistaken, but from what i remember of her story, her parents valued education, THE DOROTHY JEMISON FOUNDATION FOR EXCELLENCE is a telling title. Are we setting the bar high for EXCELLENCE in the lives of ourselves/children? What better way to truly honor our ancestors who came before us and suffered such atrocities than to utilize available spiritual and material resources, and move towards excellence in ALL aspects of our lives despite our past and our pain. Hetep, Maat, and Blessings…the sky’s not the limit, because there is no limit!!!!

I wish Mae all the best of luck. But The Bible tells us that it’s the almighty God that would create a new world for his obedient servants to inherit it..but if i may help her and her project, i want to say that the rocks we see scattered all over the moon and mars are all living and communicating, we humans need to develop computers that could activate such rocks and there we go..communication!
Don’t doubt me, i will give you an example from the head of a fish: you see some fish don’t have tissue brains but stones in their heads, yet they communicate, that is a good clue for you..
On the other hand, maybe we humans could locate a new habitable world, because God also said that we are also as powerful and knowledgeable, which was why we were driven out of the Eden Garden.

today the year 2012, i think no one wants to explore anyfurther limits to see just how avoidable one can be. To Mrs. Jameson, I hope you seminars are tied, down to earth, and filled with the mission that covers this whole ground earth, and that is why can not i put down my roots to recieve return on investments, instead of flying off the deep edge.
