Baseball Player Told to Cut His Dreadlocks or Else

Jose Reyes is being told to cut off his dreadlocksJose Reyes with the Miami Marlina just signed a six-year, $106 million dollar contract.  There is one condition however:  He must cut off his dreadlocks.   Owner Jeffrey Loria said that the teams haircut policy hasn’t changed and that Reyes would be expected to look like everyone else.

“No problem at all,” said Reye. “That’s not going to affect me and the way I play the game. I’ve got to cut it off, no problem.”

Another Marlins player, Hanley Ramirez, didn’t take to the policy so well.  He complained about having to cut his hair and said that he wanted to be traded.  He even went through the clubhouse wearing a t-shirt that said, “I’m sick of this.”

That’s BS. What if my belief doesn’t allow the cutting of my hair? And didn’t he have that hair when he was drafted? MFers.

It’s a law suit I suppose, but meanwhile he loses his great windfall and their a possibility he may lose! Cut your hair Rastaman!

No it’s not BS folks.  He signed the contract last week knowing the teams hair policy.  If he did not like the rule then he didn’t have to sign the contract.  The Marlins are not the only baseball team in MLB.  The New York Yankees have a no dreadlock, longhair, no facial hair below the bottom lip rule and they are the most successful franchise in baseball.

If he didn’t cut his hair, he didn’t have to sign with the Marlins and take the money!!! ‘Nuff said!

The rule is out-dated and stupid. Dreads, or facial hair bears no weight on how the game is played, and individualism shouldn’t be stifled. What next… blue contacts.

Cut them and grow it back when you are not under contract.

i agree with RJ. and ya gotta love it when millionaires think they’re special and the rules should be changed for them.

Oh, who really gives a crap??  It’s just hair.  I doubt if he’s Amish or Jewish.  One thing I do know is that once he cuts his hair, those gigantic ears of his will definitely be prominate.
