Ice Cube, the original gangsta who now makes feel good family movies, is ready to make a few million more by creating the next installment of his hit franchise “Friday.” The adventure is even more interesting because the filmmaker is bringing back Chris Tucker and the original cast from the first film.
In the film, Smokey, played by Christ Tucker, is on his way back from rehab. That’s all anyone knows at this point, but it’s expected to be a huge hit.
“[Ice Cube] is very excited about this and has every intention to make it happen,” said a statement from the studio.
The original low-budget film was written by DJ Pooh and went on to make $28 million world-wide. Since that time, Cube has produced two sequels to the film, “Friday,” and “Friday After Next.” It appears that he’s taking the Sylvester Stallone route to making good films, but you can’t hate him because it’s working.
