Dr. Boyce: Was Quest Love Wrong to Play “Lyin Ass B*tch” for Michele Bachmann? Yes, He Was

Quick thought – Dr. Boyce Watkins

I’m not so sure how I feel about Quest Love playing “Lyin Ass Bitch” when Michelle Bachmann came out on stage. He might not like her political disposition, but that doesn’t call for the use of such a tasteless and derogatory introduction. That’d be like a conservative show playing “Dirty Ass N*gga” when Barack comes in for an interview…..not cool.

As I prepare to speak with YBW Political contributor Yvette Carnell on the matter, I’m curious to know what others think. Personally, I think that Quest should apologize, unless he somehow thinks that Democrats don’t lie too.

There are rumors that he might be grounded from the Jimmy Kimmel show as a result of his choice of music. Personally, I think there are more creative ways to attack Michele Bachmann without degrading yourself in the process. Quest should know better, so I’ll admit that I’m a wee bit disappointed.

Yes, Bachmann and her ilk are those who have spread the most vile and venomous lies against the President, mostly because he is a man with black blood flowing through his veins, and is not afraid to represent mainstream Blacks in his policies.
Hell yeah, the Band Leader did the right thing! Too bad that he couldn’t run up to this despicable woman and give her a smack in the nose!

President Obama and the First Family have been called everything from TAR BABY to BOY to a LIAR to being compared to the PLANET OF THE APES conservatives. Not to mention the non stop death threats that has been coming from right wing CONSERVATIVE extremist.

President Obama and the First Family have been the most disrespected in this country’s history solely base on race. Conservatives like Bachmann capitalized off of this racist hate but act surprise when some of that animosity comes back to bite them in the azz.

Its a double standard. There are some cases where some groups have come out and said inappropriate comments in a public forum and when criticized they defend their 1st Amendment rights. When its done in a different form or forum such as a song played at a specfic time, then the same types of people who openly say distasteful comments are now upset when its aimed towards them. In either case, while it is our 1st Amendment rights, its negative and hurtful. I am sure that Questlove will have repercussions to pay over this incident, but only because of his status in this situation. On the other hand, it is the voter who has the power to remove politicians from office or to not support them based on their beliefs or platform. Unfortunately, this is based on public agreement or support. So the question is who has the power to hold politicians accountable and cause repercussions of their actions to be immediate? I am sure a valuable lesson has been learned in this situation its just that one side will suffer publicly more than the other.

I believe that he was wrong. Regardless of what one thinks of Michelle Bachmann, (and trust me, I am no fan of her at all), she was there as a guest and should be afforded that respect.

Harry Belafonte recently said that we as Black people need to have some form of radicalism embedded in us to spark true change… I can’t say it was wrong, just like when Kanye West had his two moments of criticizing Bush and interrupting Taylor Swift, which was both unconscionable and unbelievable. As much as White Americans make mockery to africans in America their is no comparison when a black man or woman makes mockery on white people in this country. White people always make jokes about black but when we put the joke on them, we have this ”please, don’t talk bad about Massa” attitude. White People make racist remarks about Barack and Mechele Obama all the time, so it’s nothing wrong Questlove throwing shots at Michelle Bachmann. Questlove did nothing compared to the disrespect we get from white americans. So I’m in opposition to what ya’ll are saying. And the lady made so disrespectful comments about black people when she said something about black people who go to college are “thinkers”. I don’t go to college so I’m not a thinker?
