The parents of Detroit should demand change; and the best way to do this is in the schools pockets. Parents of Detroit do not send your kids to school for a week a watch change.Schools get federal money for kids attending. If your kids do not show up, schools will loose money.

I might expect this in some third-world banana republic, but in the US of A???

    We must DEMAND more!!!

The federal government has given money for education but state and local governments, for political reasons has refused to use the money to improve the quality of the schools in their state or city the thing that we must do is put pressure on our government on the state and local level.

Ms.Boyd: Note the federal government only contributes 7 percent of the overall budget for funding of the Detroit School District.
The parents, students, and residents must formulate a comprehensive game plan A and B; Then put relentless pressure on their local school board, (City of Detroit) and the state of Michigan to address this systemic problem NOW.
How is the Detroit School District or City of Detroit, parents, and community preparing these students to compete in the U.S. economy and furthermore in the global economy?
Can a student or students ( Class Action ) sue the school district for a failure to provide them with a first class quality education?
Who is responsible for cheating these students out of a world class education?
Yes there is a lot of blame to go around! But now is the time for action
      .
How can you have a second class educational system bordering on third class and a first class prison system?
The lack of a good quality education with major resources is a major Civil Rights issue, and its very unfortunate that we do not have any credible or accountable Civil Rights leaders in the USA. Most of the people who call themselves Civil Rights leaders have been co-opted by the system, and who are only beholden to their corporate masters for whom they work.
It was pleasure to communicate with you Iris and tell me what your thoughts are on this most important subject matter.
