A pregnant woman wanting an abortion in North Carolina would have to do three things: look at an ultrasound image of the baby, listen to the baby’s heartbeat and then allow the doctor to describe the baby’s features before the procedure. Some North Carolina legislators believe the new abortion law promotes childbirth and protects pregnant mothers from emotional distress. Comforting or coercion?
