Dr. Boyce: Has Black America Become Obama’s Political Mistress?

has black america become the political mistress for obama? by Dr. Boyce Watkins, Your Black World

This week, we released the results of a Your Black World Survey, in which it was determined that the majority of black respondents (56.9 percent) felt that President Obama should have spoken up on behalf of the late Troy Davis. Many throughout the world, including former FBI Director William Sessions and former President Jimmy Carter, felt the execution to be unjust. President Obama could have called for a federal investigation into the execution, which would have kept Davis alive to this day. Instead, he allowed America to humiliate itself on the world stage by killing a citizen who likely did not commit the crime for which he was being put to death.

After remaining silent during the execution of Troy Davis, the president can hardly justify his decision to speak out on behalf of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates when he was arrested on his front porch. He also has a difficult time justifying military action in Libya, citing the fact that innocent civilians are being killed by incompetent leadership. The truth is that many of the things that we’ve said about Libya’s slaughter of innocent civilians can now be said about the White House. Fortunately, there’s no country out there powerful enough to invade the United States, for our hands can be just as dirty as our victims.

When the Troy Davis matter was brought up this week, someone reached out to me and said that it’s silly for African Americans to expect the president to have spoken up on behalf of Troy Davis. She said that we’d never expect such a thing from a white president. Others have also mentioned that African Americans are naïve and unrealistic by expecting preferential treatment (or nearly any acknowledgement outside of campaign season) from President Obama simply because he’s black.

So, in light of the fact that African Americans should not expect any semblance of targeted political support from President Obama, shouldn’t that also imply that he should not expect preferential treatment from us? When my friend mentioned that we would never expect a white president to speak up for Troy Davis (Jimmy Carter is, actually, a white man), I simply asked her, “So, you would want us to respond to Barack Obama as if he were just another white guy?” She was silent after that.

If Barack Obama were a white man, that would mean that there would be collective outrage over speeches like the one he delivered at the Congressional Black Caucus Convention, where black people were told to “stop complaining” about the highest unemployment in nearly 30 years. It would mean that we’d expect the same things from President Obama that we would have expected from Bill Clinton or anyone else during their time in the White House. I would dare to say that if black unemployment had risen to 17% under Clinton, he would be hammered by the black community for refusing to consider targeted economic policy.

This is not to say that President Obama is not deserving of the black vote. But it does say that black America must cease to make itself into the political mistress of the Obama Administration. For a man whose loyalties lie elsewhere, the mistress is often the woman from whom he expects preferential treatment, but only offers second-class status. The love is often one of secrecy because he may be ashamed of the relationship and fear the reputational consequences of those who may judge him harshly.

He only comes by with flowers when he wants something and in spite of his consistent disrespect and actions to the contrary, the mistress believes that deep down, he really loves her. When she expresses her concern about the love not being mutual, he tells her to stop complaining and support him in protecting his reputation. She accepts his stern admonishment because she’s simply grateful that he even stopped by to say hello and might even consider his words to be reflective of tough love. After all, she shouldn’t put any additional pressure on him because his wife is giving him such a hard time already.

The political argument is simple: To whom much is given, much is required. President Obama received unprecedented support from black America in large part, because of the color of his skin. Had he been white, millions of black folks would not have rallied for him, organized on his behalf or took time off to go vote for him. Therefore, it is only logical that those who went the extra mile for their president expect and demand that he go the extra mile for them. Going the extra mile means not just showing up when he needs something (notice the special attention black folks have received since election season began), but having the same degree of integrity, faith and commitment in us that we are expected to have toward the White House. Yes, the Republicans are giving President Obama a hard time, but millions of black people are being hammered by racism themselves and they didn’t use that as an excuse for not showing up on election day.

So, if the White House expects black America to treat Obama differently from the way they would treat a white politician, it is only logical that we expect the same. One of the tenets of racial inequality is the idea that black people should be complacent with being treated worse than others treat us: For example, whites are allowed to moan to President Obama all day about 8.1 percent unemployment, but black people are told to “stop complaining” about nearly 17% unemployment. Do we realize how sick it is that we allow others to say and do things that we cannot do ourselves? So, when President Obama gives a speech before a group of white folks and says “stop complaining,” then I’ll be satisfied. But until then, we might want to reconsider accepting our role as President Obama’s political mistress.

I reject being the mistress unless you call us the love child of Pres. Clinton. The President is not just now showing up, it is just now being publicized. He has gone to a national conference every year since he has been in office: NAACP, NAN, Urban League and CBC. So is our double digit unemployment an issue because we have Obama in the WH? Our employment rate was double under Clinton and Bush. Where was the poverty tour and jobs tour then? I can accept he has not done enough, but I will not accept that he has done nothing.

This is exactly what needed to be said. Thank you.

It’s official. Dr. Boyce Watkins reads my blog posts.
I said Obama treats Black America like his prostitute weeks ago. I also discussed Obama hiding from the Troy Davis execution because Obama was afraid White people might see him speaking out…this is amazing.

Great minds think alike, or someone has a bigger microphone.  Write for his blog and you’ll be heard first. He could use good writers. I’d do it, but I’ve got a novel to finish.

    • Hey Fat Head

how does your ego fit in your head?  can you let some of the air out of your head so the rest of us can see our computer screens?

BS. When people like you are in the communities, fighting against thuggery and sagging and illiterate rappers you can say something about him. The greatest thing he could do for the black community is become POTUS. He’s done that. It’s the black citizen’s turn now. And that includes you Dr. Boyce. Protest these rappers with no morals clauses, the dumbing down of our kids with these same rappers, the tatted up thugs with no concern for their children.

When you start to accomplish that I promise Obama will always be in our neighborhoods. Until then I would suggest he stay out,

    • Davonhuakemp

What do rappers have to do with this??? Obama got 97% of the black vote so Obama do owe the black community a few favors that’s how politics work.. I was one who didn’t bash bush, he didn’t get the black vote so therefore he looked out for his constituents which I have no problem with, but in three years blacks have not received nothing the gays,Latinos and the Jews got something….I’m for Ron Paul in 12 dr Paul want to end the drug war which is a war on blacks… -davonhuakemp@gmail.com

    • Davonhuakemp

Who’s more of a role model jay z or oprah? Since you wanna bash rappers she been sleeping with a man for years and not married.. Jay z a rapper pants sag and he sold drugs but made his life better when he got his opportunity a lot better married.. So quit actin like uncle ruckus and get in tune

Wow!!  Really?  Are you serious?  This is your response?

    • Anonymous

      Christian,

Where have you been?  Dr. Watkins has consistently discussed the atrocious and irresponsible behavior of rappers, etc.  He is an exellent writer and social analyst on a variety of subjects!!

He just has a different political view than you and others when it comes to President Obama’s lackadaisical response to many of the challenges in our community.  And, I wholeheartedly agree with him on this issue!!

President Obama may (or may not) PRIVATELY respect the black community but publically he seems uncomfortable when questioned or challenged on how he plans to address those economic and social woes prevalent and does not give any specifics but constrantly laments that he is the President for all Americans not just African Americans!!   And, any black person or any person with one ounce of intelligence knows that he was elected as President of a country with diverse populations but with DIFFERENT NEEDS that he pledged to address while he was campaigning for election!!

So, why is he suffering from selective amnesia when it is now time to deliver NOT JUST POLICIES but the SUBSTANCE he promised if we just voted for him and gave him a chance!!

I voted for President Obama in 2008 but, sadly, it was against my better judgment.  I admit I was swept up in his charisma and intelligence and after Bush, he seemed both erudite and sensible!!  However, I am more of a social moderate with a lot of compassion for people who need a helping hand but President Obama is simply too liberal on social issues and I will not vote for him in 2012.

  • http://mydoubleconsciousness.wordpress.com/ Alexander Allen

Obama has broken the presidential glass ceiling.  We can’t blame him for our problems anymore we can blame you for racial disparities in the educational system. He is the POTUS not the President of Black America.  Troy Davis wasn’t granted another hearing because of policies put in place by Clinton yet, Clinton spoke out against capital punishment.  Irony? Perhaps but Obama speaking out against this travesty would not have changed anything.

I don’t know about you. But I am disappointed in President Obama. You see when I elected him, I thought he was going to walk on water and turn dirt into gold. I taught he was going to be the savior for blacks. But since he is not, I am not voting for him anymore. I guess I am better off with a tea party candidate like Rick and Bachman. After all they are patriots and will care about black folks.

    • Berdell

      that is a big laugh.

“In the end, I will not remember the words of my enemies but I will remember the silence of my friends.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All our skin folk, ain’t our kin folk… Obama will NOT be getting my vote. When you have a politician focused on re-election instead of today’s issues, we are doomed…

    • Angryman

And how can he do anything if he’s NOT reelected and with a congress that will work with him!  It’s bad enough we have Senators and Congressmen actively working AGAINST him!  The LAST thing we need to to is work against him as well!  So you can sit home if you so decide, but when those TPartiers get the power they are seeking, how is it that you think you will fare any better?  It’s hard to be the first Black ANYTHING, WHY would you NOT support your President?  I actually believe you are a paid poster in Rove’s Army….  I really shouldn’t have given you this much time and energy! You know You’re a troll!!

Well said, Dr. Boyce.  I agree totally.  I pay my taxes, my mortgage, and my child’s tuition to college.  I also volunteer to help other youth.   I am not looking for a handout.  However, there are serious issues in the African American community that need to be addressed by our President.  I was very offended when he referred to us as complainers and cry babies simply because we present issues he needs to address.  He has not spoken to any other group in that manner, and we need to send a message that he can not speak to us in that manner.

  • http://twitter.com/revloyce Loyce Newton Edwards

The truth hurts doesn’t it., i.e. that Obama cares nothing about Black folks.  Watkins is 100% correct on his assessment of the Arrogant, Bi-Polar Obama.  The only folks who ever feel Obamas’ wrath are Black folks, white folks get his “skinnin-grinnin” side, he is a total sell out, and truly disgusting.

If I had been at the CBC, I would have stood and booed loudly when Obama went on his condescending rant to put us down AGAIN.  If a white politician had said that to Blacks, all hell would have broken loose, but all those folks who were there and cheered him on are nothing but fools.  Obama is “just not that into us…”

When Obama went to the HRC Dinner to court the gays, who have hounded him for their agenda, he did not tell them to shut up, but helped to repeal DADT.  Come on people, Obama is a “hater,” whether we admit it or not.

The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright was right about Obama.
The Rev. Jessie Jackson was right about Obama.
Dr. Cornel West IS right about Obama.
Tavis Smiley IS right about Obama.
Joan Walsh IS right about Obama.
Dr. Boyce Watkins IS right about Obama.

Although I voted for Obama in 2008, NEVER AGAIN!  My prayer is that the hypocritical Obama will be a one term President.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MQ5NBJIRRPO5P2F77R6X6QKDGI Symone

I so agree with ALL that you wrote!

I voted for him too and at the time I was 18 but I am now an Independent with no “hope” of voting for Obama in 2012.

      • Angryman

And just WHO are you going to vote for then?  Perry?  Romney? Palin?  You’d have to be out of your mind!  You people kill me thinking that because we have a black President, that hasn’t done what you want or what you think he should do as far as black folks are concerned, that YOU WON’T VOTE for him!!  Truth is, had most of you whiners, got up off of your @$$es and voted in the mid-terms, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation!!  You saw what happened the last time you cut off your nose to spite your face!  And you mean to tell me, now you’re willing to gouge out your eyes to spite your face?  You’ve GOT TO BE KIDDING!

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MQ5NBJIRRPO5P2F77R6X6QKDGI Symone

I wasn’t aware that “we” have a Black president.I am aware however that there is  President in office that is Biracial,so “You” people kill me always referring to a “Half White man as if he’s solely a Black man” and you see that is ALL it is about for YOU,

You’re very ignorant and I expect no less from Black supporters of Obama supporters that worship him.Mid-Term turnout was low for all  groups but as usual Blacks on The Democratic Plantation assume that ALL BLACKS are to vote only Democrat so when Democrats lose as usual Blacks are blamed.Maybe you aren’t aware of this but Blacks have “political” freedom just thought I would inform you.

There has not been anything”that spite has cut off from my face” because you see unlike you…I don’t see politics as the precursor to my destiny therefore I need more reasons to vote Democrat than “rants”about how bad you deem then next party is, that still conveys nothing about your party.

I am a PROUD Independent belonging on no POLITICAL PLANTATION…

    • Calvin Williams

at the conclusion of the machinations perpetrated on you blind negroes by watkins to stay home for the next election…common sense should tell you this will surely put a racist tea bagger in the white house.  when obama is out and reality sets in, watkins will exit the field and return to the house at syracuse to generate new shit to manipulate your frustrations from the racist tea bagger policies of the new potus, rick perry and vp sara palin.  you think you’re angry now with the disrespect from obama, wait until rick and sara get into office.
the tea baggers are on record stating their agenda is to repeal all civil rights laws. i’m sure mlk is turning over in his grave when a dumb ass say i will not vote or make obama a one term president when the alternative to not voting will put a party in power on record to repeal laws that he and others died for…one being to  give black people the right to vote.  (although i know you did not say you would not vote) but we know the only alternative is the tea party at this time.
like others i’m disappointed in obama, no different than any other black leader, mistakes will be made, but you don’t get frustrated, quit on the leader and allow the racist to win.  until we have a better alternative, a half loaf of bread is better than no loaf!
if we get frustrated and quit….see you dumb asses at the black only water fountain and eventually the cotton fields if you keep listening to negroes like watkins, tavis and west.

    • Angryman

You and Symone are spot on.  I noticed Obama’s tendency to rag on Blacks during his 2008 campaign.  If folks research how he jettisoned his Black supporters once he made it to the Harvard Law Review then you see the handwriting was already on the wall.

  • http://goodgiant-mikeharris.blogspot.com goodgiant

Dr. Boyce is absolutely correct in his analysis of the deeds & actions of the POTUS, as they’ve related to other groups. We all need to fully understand that the POTUS can do constructive things on a policy level for distinct ‘groups’ of ppl… This POTUS has proven that, again, within the past couple of weeks… However, this multi-cultural mix, that we’ve been coerced into, is not working for us!

In order for us to see Change We Can Believe In or Change Starting From the Bottom Up it’s solely upon ourselves to bring the former and latter ideas into a reality! What I find to be appalling and to some degree disturbing is that those of us that have been allowed (we all were brought here under the ‘same set of circumstances!’) to acquire ‘$millions’ long before the first Black POTUS have never reached back to help their own ppl and most, in my opine, never reached back to assist their own family and I’m not just talking I’m giving you details from my own first hand personal family experience!

So when we classify the first Black POTUS as a “SELL OUT” what you’re truly saying is that he’s merely a repeat of the fact that we, as a ppl, have been sold out by our ‘own’ longer than many of us refuse to acknowledge!

    PEACE

  • Goldie G

You Boyce are sounding more and more like Tavis and Cornell, frick and frack. I am wondering about this websight a bit more because you evidently are not trying to raise the black people up and get them working and thinking for themselves, instead you are about division and still picking away at everything that Obama does. I never hear anything positive from you in regard to the president and I feel that something here does not smell right…. Instead of doing articles on the voting crisis, redistricting and other things you are constantly trying to create a negative feeling amongst our people.  Obama and no other president has been or will be perfect, he will not always do what we feel he should be doing or saying about every black headline.  Troy Davis was a tragedy, and a long fought battle for him and his family, may he rest in peace.

You Tavis and Cornell - take off your bedroom slippers and put on your marching shoes and start backing up your written and vocal concerns with real movement.  With the state and mindset of blacks in this country we don’t need another so called black trying to fragment the sometimes fragile minds of american blacks.

    • Larry Johnson

you nailed it!  90% of his commentaries are negative and do nothing but divide us.
apparently he lost focus when he joined in the personal fights between west, tavis, joyner etc.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MQ5NBJIRRPO5P2F77R6X6QKDGI Symone

Your mind sounds so enslaved…I say this because of the intimidation you seem to have for two free Black men exercising their political views as in Mr. Smiley and Dr. West have. This article has nothing to do with  Mr. Smiley and Dr. West and yet you rant about them. You talk as if all Blacks have to think alike for a man who is also half White,Do you put the same onus on Whites? Or is it just Blacks that are to be “burdened” with Obama? Blacks like you need to become sophisticated in your  “thought process” because your limited mindset will keep you stuck in a box.

The real truth is that Obama has shunned Blacks. In his first year he named June (National Gay Month) and he just recently was influential in DADT.Obama is aiding Illegals in their plight to breaking the law in America. So called Jews have both of  his ears,he’s all smiles for every group but on the very rare occasions that he appears before Blacks,he preaches/insults and just plain disrespect Black people. When he comes before Blacks,we need to be treated with the same respect he reserves for others.

Every since Obama has been elected, there has been this deep seeded hatred expressed by Blacks that seem to blow up at any Black person that dares to express an opinion about Obama that is in opposition to him and it’ extremely perplexing because many Blacks that act in such a manner are very ignorant on politics and many especially don’t know Obama’s policies because you are too emotional over him to see things objectively. It’s as if you feel “your voice is the only one that should be heard ” when it comes to how Blacks feel about Obama. but you need to realize that your voice don’t speak for me because I realize that my voice don’t speak for you.

I’m a 21 year old female and even I know why many Black people and I would venture to say, many  Black men are upset by the way Obama ignored what happened to Mr.Troy Davis. For many Black men,it comes down to the core of the many injustices Black people and in particular Black men have had with the “injustice” system and for those that saw Obama as a Black man have awakened to what he really is now….

      • ofogbo

Symone, the Retard!!!!! You have been chased out of every thread like a loser that you are. Here you are again spewing your anti Obama puke. You are not a 21 year old female. The things people tell themselves, so lets see I have been accuse of being White/Tea Bagger/Republican  and now supposedly I’m getting paid? Wow I wasn’t aware that I was getting paid  to give my opinion as you do but I’m wondering if whether you are getting paid to put out such lies about Black people that oppose Obama…..I do know that Obama paid 3,000,000 dollars  to black blog sites and radio hosts to counter people that oppose Obama. Are you one of those people?

Trust and believe, with the energy and hate that many of you Obama worshipers have for any Black person that dares to give a contrary view of Obama rivals any Klans member  and you are indeed a sad and pitiful crew….

Wow……Such evil that you possess and yet you say my spirit is unclean? You speak of Lucifer and Satan as if it’s common to you.
Does my opinions of Obama drive you to such an insane state of mind and spirit?………..The power that my “spirit”has over you is completely perplexing.

I wasn’t aware that I even responded on every thread let alone chased from any thread.I only use the Symone on this site and I use the name Syymone on another site and it’s clear to me that you are someone from that site that has been upset by my stance on Obama…Why are you so intimidated by my words. Are you afraid there are Blacks reading that may be “influenced” by what I say because they are not as brainwashed as you are…

I didn’t say anything about hearing a “spirit speak to me” I spoke in the context of people who are spiritual being able to withstand the hate we receive from you Obama worshipers and there was no “we” that told me anything and there is no “we” that can ever make me compromise myself based on political differences or anything else. It’s clear that you are a liar of so many things. You even accuse me of being White to cope with my strong words,I mean really,Really?

You responded just as I stated that Obama worshipers respond to any Black person that oppose Obama. It’s clear to me that many of you are completely insane and have no self worth and you are intimidated by Blacks that reject such nonsense.

What have Blk ppl done 2 help themselves! We own nothing our community, we don’t support education, & we r losing generations 2 senseless violence! We r quick 2 blame Obama because he’s blk! He cannot do anything without support from the blk ppl! Yes, be could have spoken up for Troy Davis, but he didn’t! What did any1 else do for Troy Davis? Unemployment has been a problem in the blk neighborhood for years, but we don’t speak out about it because unemployment was only in the HOOD! Now that Middle Class Blk America is suffering unemployment is a problem! We can’t have it both ways ppl, so as Obama has said, SHUT UP & FIGHT ABOUT!

    • Jeanette Chambers

If he can help Latinos he can help blacks.  Stop making excuses for him.  He signed an executive order to go around Congress to give these ILLEGALS something to stop their complaining.  Do you think blacks would have been allowed to do what they are doing? NO!!!!  I agree that we must open our own businesses but we also need to STOP SUPPORTING HISPANICS, ASIANS, and others who come into our communities and set up their businesses and WE RUN THERE LIKE WE HAVEN’T HAD ANYTHING TO EAT IN YEARS, OR DON’T HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.  STOP ALLOWING THEM TO CUT YOUR GRASS, THERE ARE PLENTY BLACK CHILDREN THAT CAN DO IT AND ALSO BLACK MEN WITH LANDSCAPING BUSINESSES, OR BETTER YET CUT YOUR OWN GRASS!! OBAMA WANTED TO GET IN OFFICE AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO, WHY SHOULD I MAKE IT LIGHT FOR HIM? BECAUSE HE’S BLACK?  I DON’T THINK SO!!  HOW MANY LETTERS DO YOU WRITE?  HOW MANY PHONE CALLS DO YOU MAKE TO YOUR SENATORS, REPS, GOVERNORS, CONGRESSMEN?  WE NEED TO START DOING THIS MORE AND WE CAN GET SOME RESULTS.  STOP BEING FOOLISH WITH SPENDING MONEY WITH OTHER RACES AND HELP BLACKS AND COMPLAIN WHEN BUSINESS IS NOT WHERE IT SHOULD BE.

    • Anonymous

      B. Powell,

Are you serious?  Do you really believe that we are culpable for everything sinister or opprobrious that we have experienced or currently encounter in our community?  While I agree that we have some egregious social problems, I think it is safe to say that we should not paint all blacks as inept, violent and uneducated buffoons with little concern for the black communty!!

There are many caring people who work in the trenches every day.  Be it in their professions or through volunteer community involvement, they often toil under the radar asking or receiving very little material gain or public recognition.  Despite these laudable efforts, we still need national targeted leadership from our local, state and national leaders (including President Obama) to held us eradicate these problems!!!!!

I interact with many intelligent and educated blacks every day.  I live in an area of the country where we are prevalent and are thriving and many of us ALSO give back to our communities and are very proud of our service.

In the end, it does not matter how engaged a community is, if there are barriers to educational and economic attainment, that community will not thrive.  President Obama and congress must work together to address the individual and diverse needs of ALL American citizens — to include African Americans!!!

  • Mistress or Friend?

This article actually made me pause…great commentary. I think many of your points are valid. The truth is, as a black man, I think the President feels more comfortable with black people because there is an understanding/acceptance. So, he can and does say things that he would not otherwise say to a non-black audience. We don’t know why he didn’t speak up about Troy Davis. Maybe he was briefed on the incident and weighed the pros and cons. He is after all a laywer and vaguely familiar with the legal system. We don’t know why he made the decision he did and I don’t think we have the right to demand a reason from the President simply because he is black. That is why it is important that you vote for politicians that you trust and you believe wants to do the right thing and be just. That is why I voted for Obama. He seemed like a do right guy or, at the very least, a hard working man. Yes, it was a bonus that he was black. I don’t think blacks are the mistress, I think we are viewed as the trusted friend that he can let his hair down with and be real. Honestly, I do think we, as a people, need to stop complaining and start making moves. So, his point was well made and timely.

Dr. Boyce your site was a place that I found enlightening but now I think you , Travis Smiley & Dr. C. West are doing a grave disservice to the Black community.  There was never these types of discussions during Bill Clinton, RR or either of the GB’s tenures as we see from you & the Poverty Pimps.  I worked for a Community Action Agency as a Research Analyst from 1971 to 75 and Black Unemployment/Underemployment has always been extremely high that is nothing new.  Why is this president being held to account for our community and not the entire country?  If he attempted to craft specific initiatives for the Black problem he would not be re-elected.  Is that what you are seeking?  I can go to any other site and find complaints about the POTUS….why would I come to YBW for this kind of negativity.  You have been in Academia too long no matter who is in office you will have your tenure and probably increase your advertisers & funding by busting the POTUS’s chops.  Who is behind you my brother?  Say good by to a former reader to your site.

I cannot believe the level of ignorance among us!!  The man is catching hell from everyone, if he can’t count on us to have his back then what’s the point?  Has he disappointed me at times, sure, but so have my parents and children.  That doesn’t mean I no longer support them.  Some of you really need to get over yourselves!  If we can’t rally around our President when we have the chance to really make things happen that will be better for us in the long run, what chance do we have?

And the President can’t do it all!  He needs the Congress and Senate to help him and THEY ARE NOT AT ALL INTERESTED in helping him, they want him to fail!!  And judging by some of these comments, some of you do too, and I’m NOT just talking about the Trolls (Paid Posters)!  Some of you need to brush up on your Civics!

Yet Clinton could do NO WRONG in your eyes, even though he’s actually the reason that position limits were removed from Speculators and why these very speculators have driven gas prices up to near $4 a gallon!  Don’t remember that huh?  Don’t get me wrong, I thought Clinton was a excellent President, but he wasn’t without his flaws!

The problem is white people. Under the global system of racism (white supremacy), it is white people who are most responsible for what ANY black person—including President Obama— says, does, and/or does not say or do.

    Replace White Supremacy with Justice.

We all know that President Obama’s people have an agenda for him to accomplish during this term, or part in office.  Moreover, we cannot be naive enough to think that President got up one morning and decided on his own to run for the office.  This may be a bit premature to be saying, however, our hope should be if, and only if, he is re-elected he can then do or try to do for us what nobody else has had an opportunity or the will to do.  Some of us belief he is beginning to put that foundation in place!

Perhaps Obama knew that Davis wore blackface, thus making him a racist

Tavis Smiley called President Bill Clinton the First Black President and praised him and Hillary invited her to and she did speak at the last State Of Black America, only it was used to turn the Black Community Against America.

How does this article help the Black Community Address the Issues facing their families? While Republicans burn down the nation you spend your time on this nonsense, and ignore trying to use your voice as a Positive in the community.

Just yesterday the NAACP sent this to many members, I had no idea and I’m sure neither do most in the Black Community

The NAACP has a lawsuit agains New York City Public Schools to stop the gross mistreatment of minority students and their parents.

Much has been said that the NAACP is simply against Charted Schools, however, that is not the case.

Here’s what’s happening NOW as reported by the Parents in NYC

Students in traditional public schools must now eat lunch at 10:00a.m. so that Charter School Students can enjoy lunch at noon

The Traditional Schools (Public Schools) children had library access for a little more than 4 hours so that the new charter school’s kids could have access for almost 7 hours

Public schools/traditional school students have been moved to the BASEMENT nex to a BOILER ROOM to make room for their Charter School Peers and teachers in the Traditional School where forced to hold some CLasses IN THE HALLWAY!

The suit is to force NYC to follow the LAW and live up to Brown vs. The Board of education and other previous court agreements won prior.

Once again Our Children are facing Seperate But Equal

NAACP reports Old wounds have beenopened and hurtful steretypes trotted out

Well Our President faces this daily from being called a Coonskin, yesterday called
    Top Alabama
Lawmaker Apologizes For Calling Blacks ‘Aborigines’

Ron Christi come on tv and defends this racism, while you and your writers simply ignore or dismiss the Issues that’s what the Black Community needs

Gov. Christi NJ Significantly decreased funding in the Poorest neighborhoods and the NJ Cour overturned his decision.

Can Black America get Issues from this Black Blog?

If you really care about the Black Community try addressing ISSUES, unemployed, the numbers, what the congress is doing, better yet exactly what the Republicans are doing in congress laws they are passing everyday to hurt Black Families

If you are not here to help Black families what is your purpose.  Black america can get the Chatting from Main streem news.

I’m  a new reader to the site, found you thru theGriot. I just felt compelled to jump into the discussion. I would like to kindly disagree. The Troy Davis case was tragic, and shouldn’t have happened. His family and friends and the internet world, and former presidents all spoke up for his right to freedom, but the fact that Obama didn’t (in my opinion) does not equal to me that he is treatign all blacks in the nation like some ugly force he can’t bear to look at. Obama is not a dumb man. I also don’t think that just because he is black that he shuold bear any role as “the righteous black saviour” in office. He’s trying to fix a country that’s long been defective in a number of issues both socially and fiscally. His speech where he said “Stop complaining… stop crying” ignited a lot of anger with a lot of people to be sure, should he do more to help? Yeah. Should he do more to help because BLACK people are pissed off and expect him to act like a homeboy and help them out because he’s black too? No. Not really. He should be doing it because we’re American citizens. Treat his actions as personal attacks on the whole black community seems a bit… melodramatic. Blacks have always had the highest unemployment (which no previous presidents worked very hard to correct either). I’m not expecting Obama to be some “perfect black paragon” president and I think its a folly for anyone to. It’s not easy being POTUS, but we’re lucky to at least have someone in office who’s smart enough to know this and try to take it seriously.
