The rapper Vigalantee (aka Roger Suggs) is tired of seeing police brutality devastating his community. He is the founder of the “No Jangle Movement,” which advocates for enlightenment among African Americans, especially black men. He has pushed thousands in the Kansas City, KS area to understand the role of black men and women to educate themselves, become politically empowered and to live with self-respect.
Vigalantee also believes that hip hop artists must recognize the power of their voice to affect political change. He says that this voice should be used with responsibility, compassion and courage. The positive messages in his music reflect a growing trend among artists who are weary of hearing music that disrespects women, encourages black-on-black violence and encourages irresponsible behavior. He and other artists are working to claim a better tomorrow.
