Bishop T.D. Jakes is back to work as an executive producer churning out a new movie after his box office hit Jumping the Broom. Filming for On the Seventh Day began on the 12th of this month in New Orleans, Louisiana, and this is the second film to be released under Jakes’ Woman Thou Art Loosed franchise. The first film released under the latter was none other than Woman Thou Art Loosed, and it debuted in 2004. One must pay attention to the fact that On the Seventh Day is coming into being seven years after Woman Thou Art Loosed was released. It is interesting to see the Biblical power of the number seven at work in the literal production of the film and in the movie’s dimensional plot. Ashlei Morrison, the unit publicist working on behalf of the film, provided Your Black World with the following sneak peak:
“This independent film takes its audience on a seven day journey inside the souls and secrets of a husband and wife, Kari and David Ames, as they search for redemption, truth, and faith while on a race to find their missing daughter. The film uses the eerie, yet peaceful and beautiful scenery of Louisiana’s bayous and the cities unique culture to depict a story that everyone can relate to: a story of a couples’ transformation, strength, and conviction.”
On the Seventh Day boasts a dazzling star cast. Blair Underwood from LA Law and Law and Order SVU is playing David Ames. Sharon Leal from Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too? is portraying Kari Ames. Acting the role of character Beth Hutchins is Nicole Beharie from American Violet and Sins of the Mother. Finally, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Pam Grier best know for her roles in Jackie Brown and Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child will play Detective Barrick.
Morrison shares with Your Black World that this new eye-teaser from Jakes ”is set to wrap on August 6, 2011.”
