Dr. Boyce: Drug Test Welfare Recipients? Maybe You Should Just Test Everyone

Saying that it is “unfair for Florida taxpayers to subsidize drug addiction,” Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation stating that anyone applying to receive welfare benefits must undergo drug testing.

“It’s the right thing for taxpayers,” Scott said. “It’s the right thing for citizens of this state that need public assistance. We don’t want to waste tax dollars. And also, we want to give people an incentive to not use drugs.”

Starting July 1, those who fail the drug test would receive a one year ban. A second failed test would extend the ban to three years. The American Civil Liberties Union is filing suit against the state on the grounds that blanket drug tests are unconstitutional.

One would certainly expect conservatives to be the first to advocate healthy, drug-free living for all Americans. After all, Republicans are just so gosh darn drug-free themselves. Rush Limbaugh and others who condemn those with addiction issues are typically one scandal away from being exposed for their hypocritical condemnation of the poor.

Republikkkrats always hide their agendas behind some half a s s excuse, its just another disparity law aimed at a class , group or culture , because they know by history that most people who dont have the same opportunities are poverty stricken, and those who are poverty stricken resort to drugs to escape their daily routine of not being able to do anything about their situation of being poverty stricken.

Its like throwing another obstacle in the way of denying Poverty Stricken People , and yes most are those who are of minority, because of the racism in society and lack of equality in opportunities. that is why Prison is full of Minorities and why the Jobless rate is higher among minorities.

Now that Hate and Disparity Laws are aimed and targeting Mexican & Latinos, they are bleeding over to other Class and Groups not just Culture. Which is Leaving Many others to understand what political party is defined by their hate and disparity policies, even if it is taking this country back to the pre civil war era times. The Death Rate will sky rocket amongst those lacking the funds, the means and the health care as those who have the white only privileged opportunities and means.

GOOD for the gov! Welfare recipients should receive drug testing, and this procedure should be carried out all over the United States! Far too man people on welfare do not use the money to take proper care of their children and WE all know this. Certainly, it is not the majority, but the numbers are high enough to warrant this procedure. As a tax payer I do no want to see my monies used to buy drugs, fake hair, mani & pedis, a dress to go to the “club” in, or to help take care of people who do not work or those who do not want to work! Unfortunately, as in everything, those folks who are doing the right thing has to go through it as well, but then even those people should not want the monies spent on drugs. The difference is: Government employees a work (or they are supposed to) for their money, and welfare is money taken from the people’s monies through paying taxes and given to those in “need”. This procedure is long over due.
