Rapper M-Bone’s Funeral Draws Thousands of Observers

Your Black World reports.

Over 2,000 people showed up for the funeral of the rapper M-Bone (a.k.a. Montae Talbert) from the group Cali-Swag District.  The group’s most famous song is “Teach Me How to Dougie.”  The 22-year old rapper was shot and killed in Inglewood during a drive-by shooting on May 15.

“Since the sixth grade, me and him been dancing together,” group member Yung told the crowd, “but I never got to tell him this: He taught me a lot.”

“It had nothing to do with gang violence,” another group member Smoove said. “It wasn’t nothing like that. It was just a ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ situation.”

In spite of the group’s success, they were released from Capitol Records in March and were planning to distribute their first album, “The Kickback,” through other channels.   This week, they released “How to Do That,” to honor M-Bone’s death.

The Inglewood Police Department has not made any arrests in the murder.
