It is truly a shame when black folks get up on world wide television and sound like fools! This Dr. Watkins person is so off base sometimes, although I can appreciate some of his blogs. Oprah does not owe anyone anything! She did her thing, and others need to do theirs!! If she has no respect for grown black men who would thrive in an environment that disrespects Black women, when it was a black woman who brought their ignorant ass’s into this world,  then that is her choice,  and I agree with her! Just as she did not need 50 cent or any of the rest of these so called “rappers”, they did not need her either. Trust me, they made fools of themselves all by themselves!!! Why is it that as black people we ALL have to like the same things??? Oprah respects excellence,  class, intelligence, learning, and growth! Again, any grown man that would disrespect black women are ignorant fools that do not command or deserve respect from anyone!!!! Class up and educate yourselves!

I feel your position in this matter however, I must say, or pose the question, “Do you believe that there would have been a more compassionate conversation if the host, Paula Zahn was Black & MSNBC  Black owned?” In other words, my take is that Dr. Watkins spoke articulate & made a strong point.. Based on the immediate situation in conjunction with the circumstance that we all must contend with WW, DBW & RM  made some interesting points. I’m sure, if we owned & controlled our own media machines this discussion probably would have never taken place… I’m basically saying we have to see the whole picture…. U follow?

Nothing here to say negative about Oprah, but some of you all need to know none of us ever make it, succeed, or get to our goals without the help of someone, a church, grants, PRAYERS and/or a few handouts and hand pulls.  Oprah did not get where she is today without the help of that station in Chicago that gave her the opportunity.  Her audience in the beginning was majority black.  She touched on racism, she sexism, entertainment, good housekeeping and many more subjects including weight fluctuation. So no, Oprah did not do all this on her own and if it were not for the MOST HIGH, Oprah would be just Oprah, not Ms Oprah Winfrey who has helped many (granted) changed many lives and made her money from WHITE VIEWERS…………..just keepin it 1 hundred

    The station in Chicago
    God
    white viewership

Why this clip? It is three years old and highly irrelevant. If you missed her show, she has sent over 400 black men to college. She has nothing to prove. Her reason for sending them was when you save a black man you save a family. Oprah’s record stands. Unless this was posted to say oh we didn’t know what she was doing and we are sorry. Learn this from Oprah she used a demographic to finance those over 400 black men’s education. She is the best at having done that. Had she sounded the alarm I send black men to college, I’m sure she would have lost some of her deomgrahic possibly. Strategy, shrewed and awesome business woman. Those same black men are paying it forward. She owes the foolery of hip hop nothing! Check out her Master’s Class where she has JayZ as one of the Masters. This Clip and article was ill timed and placed.
